If the first Decent Disco (the soundmen formerly known as ESS) mix was shoes then it probably would look like those Gravis kicks. Slightly more gold maybe…
Detailled information to follow - right now, the only thing I can say is that its title is “Zeckenimpfung” which I think is pretty funny but probably hard to get for non-German speakers. I will think of an English equivalent for you Dollar and Pound spenders though.
In the meantime: load down and enjoy.

You have tons of so called “reggae photographers” out there. However, most of the time, all you find in their portfolios is blurred pics of Elephant Man on European stages, these form-a-heart-with-your-hands style of shots with white fans next to reggae “legends” who even the Jamaican people would boo off stage nowadays but who are still booked as festival headliners in Germany and Italy, or the freaking millionth shot of the sun setting at Negril beach.
Well, you know that P.D. Rickards is different. But you haven´t really seen him shooting musicians or singers for quite a while. Maybe a little Mavado now and then.
Today, he released a set of legendary Sly Dunbar playing the drums in the Anchor Studios. Classic material.

Just back from BK, I´d like to share a nice cozy spot which was recommended to us as a “wicked bar where I sometimes spin reggae tunes” by Neil Nice, a friend working at TurnTableLab.
It´s called Spur Tree and it´s located in the Lower East Side, NYC (the exact address is 76 Orchard Street, NY 10002, between Broome and Grand); easily identified by a big red sign with a black tree on it.
I received an email from Jan Håkon, an illustrator from Oslo, Norway, today, asking me to check out his stuff.
Flipping through his pretty dope portfolio, my attention was caught by the “Badman Collection”, of course. Part of the Badman Collection is the opportunity to buy one of two 1 square meters of land with a box on it. A box
made of bricks that have been thrown at people and a tree.
Also, the box has “Badman Wallpaper” on the inside and a “Badman Flag” pon top.
That´s great, man - L.A. Lewis could have had this idea!

Nope. No New York story again. But good news still: I just put Shook magazine issue numero 2 (spring) in the shop. It´s dope as the grilled corn with mayo, parmesan and lime from the Habana Outpost food truck (and it looks as good as the ladies standing in line there). Trust me.
P.S. Also listen to this (Mad Decent on Fairtilizer), laugh at those (Jonathan Sabine´s pieces) and read that (The New Yorker on auto tune).
